E-Brake 35T Premium Mini Cell: Compact Automation That Scales

The Mini Cell puts a 35-ton servo-electric E-Brake and a Fanuc robot with a 25 kg payload into one compact cell, run by SafanDarley software. Configurable infeed, deposit and discharge options keep parts moving with little operator involvement.

Automatic tool and gripper changing, angle measurement and extra product tables can be added as needed. Properly equipped, the cell runs unattended for more than eight hours. Productivity gains reach 30 percent, and energy savings approach 50 percent.

It's built to grow with the shop. For fabricators new to robotic bending, that makes it a practical first step.

E-Brake 100T: Servo-Electric Performance, Lower Cost of Ownership

The E-Brake 100T delivers 100 tons of force across a 10-foot working length on SafanDarley's fully electric drive. Against hydraulic press brakes, it has shown up to 30 percent higher productivity and up to 70 percent lower energy use.

No hydraulics means no oil, pumps, valves, seals or filters to maintain. Matt Garbarino, President of SafanDarley North America, says that's where the math changes, once buyers look past purchase price to total cost of ownership. Fewer wear parts lower maintenance and energy costs right away. And when skilled labor is hard to find, downtime eats into margins fast.

Software That Connects the Entire Cell

SafanDarley will run live demos of three software platforms. Each one handles a different stage of bending.

AutoPOL takes programming off the machine. Programmers import and unfold the sheet metal model, pick tooling, and set the bend sequence and stop positions offline. The whole process is simulated and validated before it reaches the press brake, so machine time goes to making parts.

RoboBend does the same for robotic bending. It coordinates the press brake and robot, works out bend sequences and generates robot motion. Collision checks happen in simulation, before anything runs on the floor.

ASC-Control manages the cell in production. It stays in constant contact with the robot and press brake, monitors status, tracks parts and manages production orders, including tooling and gripper changeovers. Access can be set by role, so product engineers and operators each work at the level their job requires.

Garbarino sees integration as ASC's real advantage. Customers don't have to manage the press brake, robot, tooling and material flow as separate systems. They can also add capability as their needs change.
